The art of putting others at ease is the mission of Southern Protocol. They have been spreading their message since 2003 through informative lectures on traditional manners with a modern twist, and using their creative expertise to plan gracious, hospitable weddings and events. Their children's programs have been featured in Charleston Magazine & Lowcountry Parent. They have coordinated feature events for The Garden Festival at Middleton Place, The Junior League of Charleston, and The Preservation Society of Charleston. Their company has been featured at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival. Owner Lizz Akerman is often quoted in both local and national publications as an expert on etiquette in today's modern society.

Lizz is passionate about planning.  Having grown up in the event planning industry, she watched her parents company grow from one small office in Winston-Salem, NC to several throughout the Southeast. Lizz has truly been "planning events" since she was 6 years old!  Through her Parents, she learned attention to detail, ultimate customer service and putting her crative flair into everything she plans.  Lizz's niche is planning gracious events and weddings that fuse traditional manners with modern sensibilty.   She is authorized to teach Tea & Etiquette and Modern Manners for Children by Dorothea Johnson, renowned etiquette expert. She is a volunteer for The Junior League of Charleston, and sits on the tour committee for The Preservation Society of Charleston.  Lizz and her husband, John, reside in Charleston, SC with their children Jack, Charlie, Lola and their malti-poo "Bubba".
